This online course is designed for substitute teachers, teacher assistants, and prospective new teachers. It's also a great way to earn teacher renewal credits.

Certificate

These one-day electrical classes will count toward continuing education requirements mandated by General Statute 87-44.1 for electrical contractors and others who work with electrical components to ensure the safe and proper installation of electrical work and equipment in order to protect the life, health, and property of the public.

Degree

The Electric Utility Substation and Relay Technology program is a two-year program that trains students to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot the high-voltage equipment and critical protection systems that keep the electric grid running smoothly. Students get hands-on training with industry standard equipment that they will encounter in the field and have opportunities for internships.

A certificate in Basic Power Systems is designed for students or working electricians who want to learn the fundamental physics, equipment, and blueprints governing massive high-voltage electrical grid infrastructure.

Diploma

The Electric Utility Transformer Test Specialist diploma is designed for working individuals to gain the knowledge and skills to maintain large power transformers. The diploma can be completed in four semesters.

The Electric Lineworker program prepares individuals to work as linemen in the preparation and repair of electrical utility services. Course topics include basic elements of electricity, overhead pole and electrical line constructions, safety codes and applications, electric system, transformer and meter installations, underground electrical distribution, introduction to transmission line work and introduction to substation construction.

The Elementary Education Residency Licensure Certificate prepares beginning elementary school teachers for licensure. It provides supportive coursework, one-on-one coaching with trained professionals, in-person observations and support in and out of the classroom.

EKG/ECG Technicians play an important role in healthcare by helping detect and manage heart conditions. They perform tests that monitor the heart’s electrical activity, prepare patients for various monitoring procedures, and ensure results are accurately recorded and shared with physicians. Their responsibilities also include scheduling appointments and documenting medical interpretations, all while supporting patients of all ages in preventing and assisting with the treatment of heart disease.

Richmond Community College provides a variety of continuing education classes for EMTs and paramedics. Classes are offered in-person, online or hybrid.

Degree

The Emergency Medical Science Bridging program is designed to allow a currently credentialed non-degree holding paramedic to earn an associate degree in Emergency Medical Science in two semesters.

The EMT Basic Training course will prepare you for a career as an emergency medical technician (EMT). You will learn life support, basic patient care, and emergency response methods. Upon successful completion of the class, you will earn your EMT certification.
