Access to Achievement

Access to Achievement connects students with intellectual and developmental disabilities to resources that will help them succeed in school and beyond. Each student's journey is unique, and so is the support they will receive to achieve their goals.

Inclusive

All students with intellectual and developmental disabilities are welcome into the program. No documentation is required to participate.

Supportive

We connect students with the resources they need, from academic help to a variety of supports, including tutoring, peer mentoring, workshops and transportation.

Career Exploration and Experience

Students have the opportunity for site visits, paid internships, on-campus jobs, or paid internships off-campus through the Employment & Independence for People with Disabilities, formerly Vocational Rehabilitation, if they qualify.

Employment Support

Students gain workforce skills that will allow them to participate fully in their communities and work toward achieving independence. They will receive referrals to the Employment & Independence for People with Disabilities or NC Works if eligible.

Person-Centered

Each student's Access to Achievement plan is designed around his or her strengths and goals.
